New: Schoenenkwartier in Waalwijk

The new Schoenenkwartier can be found located in the west wing of the restored Kropholler Complex in Waalwijk. With a surface area of 3000 m2 of exhibition space, it is here that trade, innovation and creativity come together.

The Schoenenkwartier is based on three pillars: the Maaklabs (Creation Labs), the Kenniscentrum (Knowledge Centre) and the Museum. In the Maaklabs, craftsmen - for the most part, volunteers who have worked in the craft shoe industry themselves – are coupled with young designers and creators of new techniques. A place for up-and-coming talent, established designers and the curious visitor. You can never learn enough in the Kenniscentrum. It is here that you can feel materials, old and new, page through magazines and books, retrieve images and attend lectures. In the Museum, hundreds of shoes (from a collection of more than 20,000 items), materials and equipment can be admired in a surface area of more than 3000 m². Constantly changing exhibitions make each visit an opportunity to see something new!
