Loving Vincent exhibition coming to the Noordbrabants Museum

Loving Vincent – the exhibition - 14 October 2017 to 28 January 2018

A standing ovation: that’s what the makers of the Loving Vincent film received during the first screening of this film during the Annecy Festival 2017. Loving Vincent is the first painted animation film in the world. The 94 minute film features hand-painted frames with a total of 65,000 paintings. 12 canvasses appear each second! More than 125 artists bring the artist and his brushstrokes to life in Loving Vincent. It took the couple Hugh Welchman and Dorota Kobiela from Breakthru Productions a total of 6 years to make the film which will receive its Netherlands premiere in October 2017.

The upcoming exhibition of the same name, Loving Vincent in the Noordbrabants Museum, gives a unique glimpse behind the scenes of this unusual film. The 70 most beautiful paintings made for this film will come to ’s-Hertogenbosch especially for this occasion. There are in addition various image fragments and illustrations that show how the paintings came to life. Through this exhibition visitors will get to learn more about Vincent van Gogh’s life and also how this film came to be created.
