Dutch Design

The beautiful Brabant countryside, the birthplace of Vincent van Gogh and Hieronymus Bosch, also has a major reputation when it comes to innovation and smart solutions. It’s not without good reason that the region around the cities of Eindhoven, Breda, ’s-Hertogenbosch, Tilburg and Helmond is known as the Design District of the Netherlands, with Eindhoven as the Capital of Dutch Design. So it makes sense that in 2017, the 100th anniversary of De Stijl (The Style) will be celebrated in full and with an eye on the future. An inspiring programme for anyone with a fascination for design and innovation.

If you are intrigued by the influence of De Stijl on contemporary art, you can see this influence at several locations in Brabant, where De Stijl’s heritage is on display with a distinct emphasis on Dutch design from the past 25 years. Brabant showcases the influence of design on contemporary art and future innovations, and celebrates creativity from within the Netherlands and abroad. You will get a unique insight into the world of Dutch Design, where it was conceived and where it is produced. You can witness everything from close by during a visit to the design studios, while enjoying unusual museum collections, and during the Dutch Design Week. On top of all that you’ll also have the chance to try out your own design and creation in one of the workplaces!
